Dome Restoration Receives 2018 Moses Award

ADP’s Dome Restoration at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church was honored with the New York Landmarks Conservancy’s prestigious Lucy G. Moses Award at the 28th annual ceremony on May 8th. The Moses Awards are the Conservancy’s highest honors for outstanding preservation efforts.

The construction process entailed the careful replacement of over 6,300 terra cotta tiles on the dome with historically appropriate, artisan crafted tiles. The patterns were taken from the original dome, with a hands-on approach to the documentation of the individual tiles and quadrants of the dome required. The globe and cross that top the dome were carefully regilded and put back in place after the tiles were installed and blessed by the rector in situ.

Congratulations to the Church, the St. Bartholomew’s Conservancy, and the entire project team.
