History

Since the firm’s inception, ADP has worked in North America, Italy, Nigeria and Nepal, with a primary focus on projects in the New York City metropolitan area. Notable clients include the National Park Service; Marble Collegiate; HFZ Capital Group; Macklowe Organization; Fusion Academy; New York University; Fordham University; the New York Department of Design and Construction; the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; the Archdiocese of New York and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn.

ADP is proud of the significant projects undertaken by the firm since its founding. These include the restoration of the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola; the ongoing restoration work at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church; multiple restoration projects at Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral; the LEED Platinum certified retail pavilion on Liberty Island; multiple and ongoing projects at the New York Marriott Marquis Times Square; long standing work at the historic Sherry-Netherland Hotel and Metropolitan Club; and the historic rehabilitation of the Ryan Visitor Center at Floyd Bennett Field. New York City’s original Apple store and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) are just two of the major land-use planning projects in which ADP has had a defining role. Residential projects have also always made up a substantial portion of the firm’s portfolio—from overseeing the $75M renovation of an Upper East Side condominium, to townhouse renovations and the design of new single-family homes.

What We Do

ADP is adept at providing architectural services during all phases of the design and construction process and brings to our clients extensive experience in architecture, planning and preservation.

Conditions/Feasibility

We know what to look for in performing on-site observations and we have the critical review skills needed for the assessment of existing conditions. We bring a practical approach to formulating recommendations, recognizing the cost and schedule constraints faced by our clients.

Zoning Analysis

We offer our clients detailed knowledge of the myriad of zoning, code and land-use regulations that shape the urban environment.

Planning

We have extensive experience in planning, from the macro scale of master planning to the micro scale of individual project planning. Our office has successfully steered projects through various regulatory agencies including planning commissions; historic commissions; design review commissions; and local zoning, wetlands, and building departments.

Programming

We work with our clients to determine what their spacial and functional requirements are--whether it's for an interior renovation project or a new building.

Historic Preservation

We are leaders in the preservation, restoration, rehabilitation and adaptive re-use of existing buildings.<br /> Our firm is experienced in navigating complex landmarks approval processes and is committed to the responsible stewardship of cultural and historic properties.

Architectural Design

Design stems from a synthesis of the client's goals with the imagination of the practitioner, filtered through the constraints of site, program, budget and regulatory requirements that each project faces. Design adds immeasurably to the qualitative value of a project and brings art to architecture.

Construction Administration

Our firm has represented clients during the construction phase of all types of projects, from interior renovation to building envelope repairs, historic restoration and new construction. Our staff has the drive and the capability to make sure that the client's vision is realized.

Sustainability

A sustainable approach to design is always part of the decision making that goes into our work, whether it be the selection of materials, the integration of energy efficient building systems or rehabilitating an older building rather than replacing it with a new one.
