Church of St. Catherine of Siena

Church of St. Catherine of Siena

In 1995, Acheson Doyle Partners provided the Zoning Analysis and documentation on behalf of St. Catherine for the transfer of the development rights over the church, school, and priory  to the adjacent Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital.  In the year 2000, construction began on a 540-foot tall, half-city-block-large, new research facility.  Acheson Doyle Partners, working with the Church, collaborated with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill-the architects for Memorial Sloan-Kettering. ADP designed a new rectory with offices, a parish hall, and a Dominican priory for nine priests.  The church serves as the Catholic Chaplaincy to Memorial Sloan-Kettering and The New York t /Presbyterian Hospital  complex.  The 2004 construction project on the church buildings included an office, reception, counseling complex, and landscaped garden at ground level beside the sanctuary entry.  The second level serves as a parish hall and contains the common spaces of the priory.  On the third level, the individual rooms of the residence are arranged overlooking the lower roof of the church and directly into the upper stained glass windows of the nave. The facility is approximately 15,000 sf.
