Ellis Island Canopy

Ellis Island Canopy

Acheson Doyle Partners was engaged by the National Park Service’s Concessionaire for Ellis Island, Evelyn Hill Inc, in 2010 to design a metal and glass canopy for the Ellis Island Dining Patio on the southeast side of the island to provide year round weather protection for patrons of the adjacent restaurant. It was approved by the National Park Service and the NY State Historic Preservation Office in June 2010. Fabrication had begun in 2012 when Hurricane Sandy struck in October of that year. Due to the severe damage to Ellis Island, the National Park Service decided not to continue with the project.
