Acheson Doyle was engaged by the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, a National Register of Historic Places site in New York, NY, to provide architectural services for multiple projects. ADP coordinated the exterior restoration of the Day Nursery, the renovation of the choir loft, and the exterior restoration of the Loyola School. Subsequent work included the exterior rehabilitation of the Church, infrastructure and communications upgrades, selected interior upgrades and artwork restoration in the nave of the Church. Exterior restoration work required contract documents and written specifications be approved by the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission. The scope of this work included a new copper roof, cleaning and repointing of the limestone masonry facade, sidewalk replacement and miscellaneous repairs. Interior rehabilitation added 36 downlights in the Church interior with carefully executed modifications to the existing heavy timber ceiling structure and the carved plaster ceiling. Murals in the nave were restored, and an audio-visual system was designed and installed in the Church, minimizing the impact to existing materials. The organ was replaced with a state-of-the-art new organ and updated organ loft.
